Huddersfield Art Gallery will be exhibiting ‘Beyond the Horizon’ this October.
The new exhibition has been conducted by the late British artist Chris Gollon, opening on October 12.
Art enthusiasts will be able to get a glimpse of this solo museum exhibition; a retrospective of Gollon’s paintings following his untimely death in 2017.
The late Chris Gollon was born in 1953, first came to light when he was selected as a finalist in The Spectator Prize in 1989. His work was exhibited at Art Chicago ’97 as well as being shown in the St Paul’s Cathedral, following this the majority of his work has been acquired by major public collections including the British Museum.
It has been confirmed that the solo exhibition will include ‘Einstein & The Jealous Monk’ and IAP Fine Art and the Sleaford Mods will screen their collaborative project ‘Firewall’ at the opening event.
Cllr Rob Walker, Cabinet Member for Culture and Environment said: “His collection of art is fascinating and spans 20 years of his career, showing only paintings related to music. We’re expecting it to be really busy.
“There’s also a unique film which is a collage of his imagery with the Sleaford Mods’ track ‘Firewall’ and will be shown for the first time on 12 October and throughout the duration of the exhibition.”
The exhibition is accompanied by a full-colour exhibition catalogue with texts by leading writers.
Beyond the Horizon will be on display from 12 October 2019 to 4 January 2020.
