Children from Kirklees can enjoy the great outdoors, make new friends and have a great time this summer thanks to the Kirklees Summer Play Camp.
The popular camp returns to Woolley Edge Camp Site over the 6 week summer holiday.
At the camp children aged 9 to 12 years get to spend 4 days (including 3 nights) camping in the countryside.
Each of the three nights will be spent under canvas surrounded by open countryside, sleeping in tents.
Whilst at the camp children take part in various activities including archery, circus skills, water slide, giant Connect-Four, arts and crafts, team games, cycling, and other sports.
Places are available for children to camp on any of the following weeks:
Camp 1: 27 – 30 July, Camp 2: 31 July – 3 August, Camp 3: 5 – 8 August, Camp 4: 9 – 12 August, Camp 5: 14 – 17 August, Camp 6: 18 – 21 August
The camps cost is £60 per child, or £30 if a child has a priority Kirklees Passport. The cost covers all the activities, coach travel and all meals.
The camp is run by an experienced voluntary organisation and is staffed by teachers, students and skilled volunteers.
Children will not need any special equipment, just sensible clothing, footwear and a sleeping bag (this will be provided if necessary).
The camp tries to accommodate any dietary requirements including providing Halal food when requested.
Parents can book a place for their child at www.kirklees.gov.uk/summercamp or by calling 01484 225956 or 01924 324558.
