KLTV recently visited Huddersfield Town Centre to visit Errol Beckford, a master of Jamaican Root Carving, and traditional painting.
Born in Montego Bay, Saint James, Jamaica, from a very young age, Errol helped artists in the craft market with the finishing of designs, which ignited his passion for wood carving.
Over the years, he developed his own unique designs and styles, commissioning other wood carvers to bring his visions to life.
Errol’s pieces stand out due to their creativity and distinctiveness. He primarily uses native root timber, utilising the naturally cured roots of trees like cedar, mahogany, and various other hardwoods.
These roots provide beautiful shapes, textures, and impressions, making each piece a unique work of art.
Discover the beauty and craftsmanship behind Errol Beckford’s stunning wood carvings in this exclusive interview, and check out Errol’s work on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
