With Kirklees Local TV’s recent partnership with Northern Gas Networks (NGN), we are taking a look at the charitable work that they have been doing in the local community.
NGN aims to serve the community they work within. They have committed to uphold several ethical values and promises.
NGN follow their outline of ‘The Five s”, which include: Serve, Stop, Share, Shape, and Sustain. These are all policies which uphold NGN’s aim to ‘Be the best’
A recent example of NGN’s commitment to the community is their work with a Huddersfield Children’s hospice, Forget Me Not Hospice.
NGN’s colleagues recently donated 6 Samsung tablets to the hospice, as well as a selection of other donations.
Thanks to this kind donation, the children at the hospice can continue to contact their families through these difficult times dealing with the distance put between them by Covid-19.
The tablets also let the hospice’s fundraising team continue to carry out virtual tours of the hospice.
Northern Gas Network’s donation to Huddersfield’s Forget Me Not Hospice is not the only charitable work that they are committed to within the community.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, NGN has been committed to helping out wherever they can.
As well as donating to charities, NGN has donated care packages to customers when their engineers make emergency house calls. The care packages contain provisions such as non-perishable foods, hand sanitiser and puzzle books.
Steven Dacre, Northern Gas Networks’ customer experience development manager, said: “The nature of our business means we have a large, mobile workforce – so we are well-placed to offer support in local communities.
“We’ve already delivered hundreds of packages throughout the region, to care homes, charities and individual households, and will keep the support coming.”
NGN’s donations to Forget Me Not Hospice is only one example; they are committed to the communities they work within, and NGN welcome any charity, care homes and not-for-profit organisations to contact them if they would like an aid package delivery by emailing: ASKNGN@northerngas.co.uk

Northern Gas Networks delivers gas to 2.7 million homes and businesses in the North East, Northern Cumbria and much of Yorkshire. They employ 1,300 people, as well as providing regular work to approximately 800 contractors.
Kirklees Local TV is working in partnership with NGN to highlight promote the work they do across the region.
