On Friday 17th May, the Lawrence Batley Theatre will be hosting DJ Deepsta, who will be spinning a mixture of contemporary and classic Bhangra dance floor songs (with some R’n’B and Hip Hop thrown in too) plus a live Dhol player.

This will be an alcohol-free adults-only event, with a fun and friendly club-like atmosphere in the Cellar Theatre.

In the 80s and 90s, Huddersfield had a secret underground Bhangra music scene that thrived, drawing in diverse communities, dance, and culture. The club Calistos in St George’s Square hosted regular daytime raves.
