Three-day online event to give young people a behind-the-scenes look at careers with the RSPCA

The RSPCA is inviting young people to take part in a free, three-day virtual work experience event this June, designed to spark interest in careers in animal welfare.

In collaboration with Speakers for Schools, the UK’s leading social mobility charity, the RSPCA’s Virtual Work Experience (VWEX) programme will run from 23–25 June and is open to young people aged 14–19.

The event promises an exclusive look at the charity’s vital, and often unseen, work, offering a “whistle-stop tour” of the wide range of career paths available within the organisation.

Showcasing the Range of Careers

Lee Harrison, Apprenticeships and Early Careers Manager at the RSPCA, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Speakers for Schools this year to offer this exciting Virtual Work Experience.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the breadth of roles available at the RSPCA and to inspire young people who may not have considered a career in animal welfare before.

“We’re particularly eager to connect with students in key regions and demonstrate that a rewarding and impactful career at the RSPCA is within their reach.”

The RSPCA hopes that the event will inspire students to see the organisation as a future employer of choice.

Speakers for Schools has already helped more than 1.6 million young people by connecting them with leading speakers, employers, and educators across the UK.

Helping Young People Make Informed Choices

Supporting Schools and Careers Guidance

The virtual experience is carefully designed to align with national careers guidance frameworks, including the Gatsby Benchmarks 2, 4, and 5.

Schools looking to strengthen their careers programmes will find this an invaluable resource for students exploring future pathways.

Although open to all young people aged 14–19, the RSPCA and Speakers for Schools are particularly keen to engage students from the West Midlands, North East, North West, London, and Horsham areas.
