Today, Kirklees Council is launching a new initiative to tackle health inequalities throughout the borough.
Staff from Kirklees Wellness Service will be using the Wellness on Wheels van to offer health and wellbeing support. The van will share support in communities where residents are more likely to suffer from long term health conditions.
Kirklees Wellness Service offers a range of support including help to stop smoking, achieving a healthy weight and becoming more physically active.
Councillor Musarrat Khan, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care said: “I am delighted to see the launch of this new initiative. As a council, we are committed to tackling health inequalities and the Wellness on Wheels van will help our residents to achieve better health outcomes for themselves and their children.”
“I look forward to seeing the van out and about and would urge people to stop for a chat if they have any concerns about their health.”
The van will first be seen on 2 and 3 June in Cleckheaton’s Tesco car park from 10am.
