Stories from Stonefall Cemetery with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
In this video, Elizabeth Smith from the ...Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) shares the history of one of the UK's largest Second World War military cemeteries, established in 1942 as Britain faced a growing need for burial space during the war. The cemetery is the final resting place of personnel from across the Commonwealth, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean.
The video also highlights the vital work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, from maintaining military graves through its dedicated staff and volunteers to preserving the personal stories of the 1.7 million Commonwealth casualties commemorated worldwide through the For Evermore story portal.
