The National Coal Mining Museum is ready for the October half term with lots of activities for visitors of all ages.

From Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November, families can come along for free crafts, storytelling, nature trails, tours, and much more.

Families with older children can try some textile crafts, making a cat or go on a tour to find out what makes the mine water pumpkin orange.

Families can take part in a lantern making workshop, creating illuminating creations which can then take part in the museums annual Light Up festival.

Half term is the perfect time to travel deep down underground on the Museums underground tour which allows visitors to travel 140M underground that allows them to experience industry and technology through the decades.

There is also housekeeper talks, meet the ponies, a ride on the paddy trail, play area, and more.

The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday and entry is free of charge from 10 am – 5 pm (Summer Hours from April – October) and 10 am – 4 pm (Winter Hours from November – March).

Lynn Dunning, CEO of the National Coal Mining Museum for England, said: “The Museum is a great place for families to visit all year round. There is so much on offer for a low cost and exciting family day out. Our underground experience is not to be missed and there are so many creative activities to do during the October half term.”
