Young explorers of Kirklees are in for a treat! Chestnut Library is excited to announce its participation in the Library Adventures programme—a free, year-round reading initiative designed for children aged 4 to 11. This is their chance to embark on an incredible journey filled with fun, creativity, and discovery!

What Are Library Adventures?

As Library Adventurers, children can immerse themselves in a world of imagination at their local library. With a Library Adventures pack, they’ll explore six fantastic themes throughout the year, each filled with engaging crafts, captivating reading suggestions, fascinating facts, and creative activities. As they progress on their adventure, they’ll collect an array of fun rewards like stickers, bookmarks, and even certificates!

Choose Their Adventure Pack

Packs have been tailored for both younger and older children, allowing each little adventurer to select the one that best suits their age group. Simply visit any Kirklees Library to pick up the perfect pack!

How to Join

Getting started is simple! All they need is a Kirklees library card, which is completely free. They can sign up online or visit any Kirklees Library in person—no ID required!

Adventure Themes Await!

Each Kirklees library will feature a unique Library Adventures realm, chosen by local children. This year’s themes include:

• Animal Planet
• Space Explorer
• Rainforest
• Spooky
• Magical Lands
• Oceans

Throughout the year, they’ll have the opportunity to explore all six themes at their local library.

Monthly Themes Schedule

September to October:

• Animal Planet: Denby Dale, Kirkburton, Shepley, Skelmanthorpe
• Magical Land: Batley, Birstall, Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike
• Ocean: Holmfirth, Honley, Marsden, Meltham
• Rainforests: Almondbury, Golcar, Rawthorpe Dalton, Slaithwaite
• Space Explorer: Dewsbury, Kirkheaton, Mirfield, Ravensthorpe (Greenwood Centre)
• Spooky: Birkby and Fartown, Chestnut Centre, Huddersfield, Lindley

November to December (and beyond—check local schedules for details!)
