The Children’s Art School will be hosting a symposium, ‘Reanimating Huddersfield Town Centre,’ which will take place on Friday 25th October, 2 – 6 pm at MakerSkate, Piazza Centre, Huddersfield.

This interactive event will bring together local businesses, cultural leaders, and community stakeholders to explore the transformative role of culture in revitalising the town centre.

Key themes will include:

• Envisioning the future of town centres,
• The impact of culture on public spaces,
• Encouraging better collaboration among different groups, organisations, and people in the town centre,
• Engaging communities and families in the town centre.

The event will include a screening of the recent documentary, ‘MakerWorld,’ followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Maire Tracey. The film is told through the lens of the parents who attend MakerWorld with their children and celebrate the benefits of joint creative endeavours.

With growing recognition of the impact that cultural activity has on the lives of people, communities and places, the event aims to share and discuss how collaborative efforts are reimagining Huddersfield through a cultural lens, and how more can done.
