Thereβs just one day to go until the much-loved Huddersfield Literature Festival returns, kicking off its 20th anniversary celebrations tomorrow.
Organisers say excitement is building across the town as readers, writers, and performers prepare to come together for what promises to be a standout year.
Founded in 2006, the festival has grown into an award-winning cultural highlight, known for its strong focus on community, accessibility and inclusivity.
Running from 6β17 May 2026, this yearβs programme offers a rich mix of books, poetry, performance and creative workshops, both in-person and online.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Festival organisers have described the anniversary as a βspecial milestoneβ, reflecting two decades of championing literature and creativity in Huddersfield.
Attendees can expect opportunities to meet favourite authors, discover new voices and even develop their own creative skills through a wide range of events.

Free Birthday Party Set for Friday
A highlight of the celebrations will take place on Friday 8 May, with a free 20th birthday party open to all.
The event runs from 5 pm to 7 pm at Amped and will feature a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere – There will be cake!
Members of Culture Collective will also be present, offering insights into creative opportunities across the region.
