Areas within and near Kirklees where the Covid-19 infection rate is less prevalent are expected to be released from their local lockdown restrictions over the next week.
It has become noticeable which areas have the lowest coronavirus cases due to an interactive map that shows in greater detail which areas have been most affected by the virus.
The Government revealed that they would introduce a new way of targeting local authorities, which could see parts of Kirklees and the surrounding regions, where Covid-19 infection rates are lower, exempted from restrictions.
The same thing is said to be happening to parts of Calderdale and Bradford.
There has been a lot of frustration among West Yorkshire residents where there are very few, if any, cases of coronavirus that they are being made to suffer the same fate as areas with high infection rates.
So as of Wednesday, leaders of Calderdale, Bradford and Kirklees Councils, as well as local MPs, will be tasked with providing a resume of the situation for a silver meeting of the Joint Biosecurity Centre.
The Government is stressing that local leadership will be expected to seek consensus and recommend the appropriate geography in which to implement restrictions. Recommendations are anticipated to consider local travel patterns, work, and social behaviours.
A final decision will be made by Thursday 27 August. If a consensus cannot be reached, a number of recommendations will be established.
The Joint Biosecurity Centre Hold Meeting will be chaired by the Secretary of State, Matt Hancock, and Chief Medical Officer, Prof Chris Witty, which will take place on the 27th.
The most recent figures show that many areas in Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford during the week from August 11 to August 17 only recorded 0-2 cases.
