Emmerdale star to help raise awareness of specialist children’s hospice care across West Yorkshire

Actress Amelia Flanagan, best known for playing April Windsor in the TV soap Emmerdale, has become a charity ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The 18-year-old, who won Best Young Performer at the 2025 British Soap Awards, will support the charity by helping to raise awareness of its work, backing fundraising campaigns and reaching new audiences across the region.

Visiting Russell House

Born in Leeds and raised in Halifax, Amelia visited the charity’s purpose-built children’s hospice, Russell House, in April 2026.

During her visit, she learned more about the specialist care and support the charity provides to children with life-shortening conditions and their families, both at the hospice and within communities across West Yorkshire.

As an ambassador, Amelia joins a distinguished group of supporters including Jodie Whittaker, Rhys Connah, Hannah Cockroft, Mark Crossley, Eorl Crabtree, Michael Lawrence and Dan Lloyd.

Raising Awareness for Local Families

Amelia said: “I’m really excited to become an ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

“The work they do is so important, and I am looking forward to helping them spread awareness of the specialist care they provide for children and families in West Yorkshire.”

A Welcome Addition to the Charity

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice Chief Executive Gareth Pierce welcomed Amelia to the ambassador team.

He said: “We’re very proud to welcome Amelia on board as our latest ambassador and look forward to welcoming her to Russell House, where it’s fair to say she can enjoy a quieter time than her character in Emmerdale!”
