Lindley is set for its annual carnival this weekend filled with numerous community events and activities.
Running from Friday 28 June and Sunday 30 June, the event will host an array of activities including a street party, a 10k race, and a family-friendly fun run.
Organised by the Lindley Community Group, the carnival will open on Friday with a series of ‘get together’ events in memory of former MP Jo Cox, which will be taking place nation-wide through-out the summer.
On Saturday there will be food stalls, games and activities planned at the Fern Lea Recreation Ground, as well as gymnastic displays from local dance troops.
The carnival will be officially opened by Thelma Walker MP for Colne Valley.
The closing event on Sunday will see hundreds of runners competing in the annual 10k race, which is available to all competitors of abilities and ages.
Cllr Cahal Burke, chair of the Lindley Community Group, commented on the success of last year’s carnival:
“The event was a big success, with the many locals that flocked to take part and organisers vowed to keep the carnival going.
“It’s a community festival, a real family event for the people of Lindley and we hope to continue it for many more years to come.”
