Parents are being urged to be vigilant after a Salendine Nook High School pupil reported of being approached by a man in a white van on Burfitts Road, Oakes, near to Reinwood Junior School and Reinwood Infact and Nursery School.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman commented: “Police received a report at 12:15pm Tuesday, 24th of September), of a suspicious incident on Burfitts Road, Oakes, involving a man in a van making comments towards a school girl.
“An alert sent to parents by the high school said: “A student at SNHS has reported that male in a white van has asked if they would like a lift on their way to school”.
Parents are advised to encourage students to walk with others to school, and be cautious during and outside of school hours.
The student declined when the male asked them to get in the van.
A similar alert went out to the parents and carers of neighbouring school, Reinwood Junior School.
