Online furniture retailer boosts capacity with new 55,756 sq. ft West Yorkshire facility

Bedkingdom has expanded its warehouse operations with the acquisition of a new 55,756 sq. ft facility in Wakefield, as the company accelerates its growth ambitions across the UK furniture market.

The new warehouse forms part of the retailer’s wider strategy to support rising customer demand and broaden its product offering beyond beds into a more comprehensive furniture range.

Originally launched as a specialist bed retailer, Bedkingdom has steadily diversified its portfolio and is now positioning itself as a major competitor in the wider furniture sector.

The additional warehouse space is expected to increase stock capacity, improve logistics efficiency and enable faster fulfilment times for customers nationwide.

The expansion comes amid continued growth for the business, which began selling mattresses online in 2011 with an initial investment of just £400.

In 2023, the company was recognised in the The Sunday Times Top 100 Fast-Growing Companies list.

Today, Bedkingdom operates several brand-owned furniture ranges, including Flair Furnishings, Noomi, Recoil and Solace+Co, alongside a curated selection of boutique furniture brands.

The company currently employs 49 people across the business.

“We’ve seen strong growth as we’ve expanded beyond beds into a wider furniture offering,” said Levon Hall, Chief Operating Officer.

“This new facility gives us the space and infrastructure we need to continue that momentum and better serve our customers.”

Brand refresh signals new chapter

The warehouse expansion coincides with a broader rebrand for the business, as Bedkingdom adopts a more refined identity aimed at strengthening its position against major national furniture retailers.

“Our brand has had a facelift, and this marks a new chapter for Bedkingdom,” Levon added.

“We’re focused on building a more comprehensive furniture destination while maintaining the value and service our customers have come to expect.”

Located close to the M62 motorway, the new Wakefield facility provides strong transport connections for nationwide distribution and future operational growth.
