A Huddersfield-based choir is taking a fun but powerful message on the road this October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and they want you to sing along.

Honley Ladies Choir are set to launch ‘Abreast The M62’, a musical tour across the motorway corridor, combining joyful performance with an important message: check your breasts regularly.

The event is in support of several regional breast cancer charities and care services.

The initiative kicks off on 2nd October in Huddersfield, followed by a major singalong event, the Big Booby Dooby Sing, on Saturday 4th October, with performances planned in Hull, Leeds, and a grand finale in Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

“It’s Funny – But It Matters”

The choir’s cheekily titled ‘Titty Ditty Song’, featuring slang for breasts, aims to grab attention while delivering a vital message.

Jo Sykes, from Huddersfield and a member of Honley Ladies Choir, shared the personal motivation behind the campaign: “Having watched my very good friend recently go through tests, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer I am even more persuaded about the importance of being ‘Breast Aware’ and regular self-examination for changes in the breast to detect potential cancer as early as possible.

“Our Titty Ditty Song (which includes the ‘slang’ words for breasts above) is very funny but it carries a really important message.”

Everyone’s Invited — No Singing Experience Required

The choir hopes to inspire 1,500 people to join the finale performance in Liverpool, raising voices and awareness alike.

Musical Director Emily Reaves-Bradley, from Golcar, said: “We are hoping to get 1500 people together in Liverpool to raise their voices in support of the fantastic work that breast cancer charities and services do and to raise awareness of preventative measures.

“This is going to be an amazing event that we want everyone to get involved in.

“You don’t need to be a good singer; you just need to be enthusiastic about the message we want to share so come along and join us!”

Funds and awareness raised from the event will go to several organisations including:

• Hull and East Riding Breast Friends

• Maggie’s Yorkshire

• Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust Breast Care Team

• Prevent Breast Cancer (Manchester)

• Maggie’s Wirral
