Following an inspection in November, Birstall Primary Academy is celebrating another positive Ofsted outcome where inspectors confirmed that the school, “continues to be a good school.”

The report begins by stating that: “Pupils are happy here and respond well to the high expectations that are set for them.”

The inspectors go on to talk about equality within the school, its warmth and sense of community, and the wider opportunities available to all children.

Strengths of Birstall Primary Academy listed in the report include:

• A broad and ambitious curriculum.
• The high profile given to early reading.
• Good behaviour throughout the school day.
• The importance of pupil leadership roles.

Nadia Hannam, Principal at Birstall Primary Academy, said: “The inspectors seemed to understand the very essence of our school and its community.”

“We are a small school with a big heart in the very centre of Birstall. The report is a real testament to the commitment of the entire school community in the last five years.”

“None of us could have predicted the pandemic and how much schools had to navigate and change in that time. We are delighted that pupils, staff, parents and governors worked closely together to ensure that the progress and achievements of our pupils went from strength to strength.”

Monty Karmakharm, Chair of Governors at Birstall Primary Academy, said: “The Ofsted rating reflects all the hard work the team at Birstall put in each day to ensure a wonderful and safe learning environment for its children. The governing body is extremely proud to support Birstall Primary Academy and are grateful for the remarkable school team in place and look forward to another successful academic year ahead.”
