Fun-filled launch event promises goody bags, prizes and family entertainment as beloved characters join the festivities
On Saturday, 9th August 2025, iconic characters including Bluey, Stitch, Darth Vader, and Forget Me Not’s very own Russell Bear will be making a special appearance to mark the grand opening of the charity’s brand-new shop on New Street, Huddersfield town centre.
To kick off the celebrations, the first 20 customers through the door will receive exclusive goody bags.
Visitors can also enjoy refreshments and try their luck at the prize wheel, open to all attending.
A Vibrant Addition to the High Street
The New Street location is the 15th charity shop opened by Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, offering a wide variety of high-quality, pre-loved items such as clothing, books, toys, homeware, and more.
Megan James, manager of the new Huddersfield shop, expressed her excitement: “We’re really excited about having a presence in Huddersfield town centre at a time when there is so much going on.
“With the regeneration project and new developments like The Light and the food hall, and the library, there’s a real buzz about town, and we’re thrilled to be part of that.
“Our shops play a hugely crucial role in helping us generate the income we need to do our vital work – it will cost us £6.5million to provide support for local children and families this year, 80% of which we have to raise ourselves, through our shops, fundraising and events.
“Whether you’re donating your unwanted stuff or you’re shopping for a bargain, or volunteering your time to help in the shop, you’ll be part of the amazing community that helps us support babies and children with life-shortening conditions and their families.”
