AWWA founders to join lingerie boutique for community event supporting confidence, breast awareness and Cancer Research UK
Women across Kirklees are being encouraged to celebrate body confidence and discover the benefits of a professional bra fitting at a special event taking place at Sunflowers in Lindley this August.
The boutique, located on Lidget Street, will host the body confidence event on Friday 7 August from 11 am to 3 pm, marking the recent renovation of the store while raising awareness of breast health and supporting Cancer Research UK.
Organised in partnership with AWWA – Accepting Who We Are, the event will feature talks on body confidence and breast awareness, complimentary refreshments, goodie bags for guests and free professional bra fittings. Sunflowers will also donate 10% of all sales on the day to Cancer Research UK.
The Difference the Right Bra Can Make
Research carried out by model and body confidence advocate Rachel Peru, co-founder of AWWA, found that nearly 40% of 200 women surveyed could not remember the last time they had a professional bra fitting, despite the positive impact it can have on confidence, posture and comfort.
“It’s such a simple act, but a professional bra fitting can completely change how you carry yourself and how you feel about your body,” says Rachel.
Supporting Young Women in the Community
Alongside the event, Sunflowers is continuing its commitment to supporting the local community by making professional bra fittings more accessible for young girls in care and care leavers.
The boutique believes that something many people take for granted can have a significant impact on a young woman’s confidence and wellbeing.
As part of this commitment, Sunflowers will also offer opportunities for young women to gain valuable retail experience by working in the boutique, placing community support at the heart of its ethos.
Live Mannequins on Lindley’s High Street
As part of the campaign, AWWA co-founders Rachel Peru and Tina Boden will become live mannequins in the Sunflowers shop window, creating a striking display designed to encourage women to step inside, get fitted and embrace their bodies with confidence.
“We want women to feel seen, supported, and accepted,” adds Tina. “This campaign is about reminding women that they deserve to feel good in their own skin – and sometimes that starts with something as everyday as a well-fitting bra.”
