Brambles Primary Academy is set to open a new building in September. It will be something that staff and pupils can look forward to as they return to school for another year.
The build has been funded by Kirklees Council and the building is underway. The new building is going to create more classrooms, dining area and curriculum support spaces. There is also going to be expanded kitchen facilities alongside investment in play areas.
There have been a few delays with the building due to coronavirus. The building’s groundwork and foundations are predominantly complete alongside the roofing and internal structures, which are also starting to take shape.
The school was established in 2018 and has three-year groups. Currently, the children at the school are getting taught in temporary modular buildings. The construction of the new building will allow the children to have a much more pleasant and modern learning environment.
It will also mean that the school can offer more places for children of local families as it continues to expand.

Inside construction work on Brambles Primary’s new building
David Shepherd, Strategic Director for Growth and Regeneration, said:
“This investment at Brambles Primary Academy demonstrates our shared goal for each child to be happy, healthy and to enjoy the best start in life. The new, modern facilities and additional space the new building provides will enrich the learning and developmental environment for our children for years to come.
There is still work to be done, but things are on schedule to complete in time to welcome children back for the September term. We wish all the children, their families, and the staff at Brambles the best start to their school life in their new building when it opens.”
Sallie Dodd, Principal of Brambles Primary Academy, commented:
“The whole community, parents, children and staff at Brambles Primary Academy are incredibly excited to see the daily progress of our new academy building. The children visit the site daily, they are fascinated and thrilled to see their new school grow, the children’s interest in the construction is inspiring. We are all preparing for September when we open our new building and start the new school year in our brand-new environment.”
