After huge demand for their last event, the children’s hospice is encouraging early registration for this year’s water-based team challenge
After the roaring success of their sold-out Race Across West Yorkshire, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is calling on local businesses to get ahead of the game and register now for their next major fundraiser – the Dragon Boat Race at Pugneys Country Park.
Race Across West Yorkshire Raises Over £40,000
Earlier this year, 20 teams of two from local organisations took part in the hospice’s thrilling Race Across West Yorkshire.
Participants raced between seven secret checkpoints, tackling team challenges along the way – all without the use of phones or wallets.
The event raised more than £40,000 in vital funds to support children with life-shortening conditions and bereaved families.
However, due to overwhelming interest, some companies were left disappointed when the event quickly reached full capacity.
Now, Forget Me Not is determined to ensure that no one “misses the boat” for their next big team challenge.

Oar-some Fun at Pugneys Country Park
The much-anticipated Dragon Boat Race, set to return on Saturday, 20th September 2025, promises a day of excitement, camaraderie, and competition.
Georgia Lane, Forget Me Not’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Our Dragon Boat Race is always a big hit. Many of the businesses who attend tell us it’s a highlight of the year for their staff, a great way to spend time together as a team while raising money for Forget Me Not, a charity that supports local children and families.
“Crews of 17 race in decorated boats across the lake at Pugneys – it’s exciting, high-energy and highly competitive.
“Teams also have a lot of fun ahead of the event planning costumes and fundraising activities, and they bring along families and friends to cheer them on. It’s an ‘oar-some’ day out!
“Because our amazing Race Across West Yorkshire filled up really quickly, some businesses missed the chance to get involved.
“So the message for the Dragon Boat Race is book your team’s place now so you don’t, quite literally, miss the boat!”

Making a Splash for a Great Cause
