Churches and local leaders launch the Caribbean Hurricane Relief Group
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, community leaders across Kirklees have joined forces to create the Caribbean Hurricane Relief Group, a coordinated effort aimed at providing vital support to those affected in Jamaica.
A Collective Response
The initiative brings together churches, councillors, and community organisations determined to make a meaningful impact during a time of urgent need. Among the founding members are:
-
Rev. Wayne Simmonds, St Peter’s Parish Church
-
Amanda Pinnock, Ward Councillor for Ashbrow
-
Edwin Baker, Huddersfield Seventh Day Adventist Church
-
Rev. Edward Sterling, Huddersfield New Testament Church of God
-
Natalie Pinnock-Hamilton MBE, Jamaica National Council, Huddersfield
They are supported by a growing network of volunteers and contributors from across the region.
How the Community Can Help
The group is coordinating donations, organising aid deliveries, and ensuring transparent support for those most affected by the disaster.
