By Talking Health TV –
From 9 – 15 February 2026, communities across the UK will come together for Children’s Mental Health Week, led by children’s mental health charity Place2Be.
One in six children and young people has a diagnosable mental health problem, and many more are quietly struggling with challenges such as bullying, loss, anxiety, or feeling like they don’t belong.
This year’s theme, “This is My Place”, shines a spotlight on something every child needs: a sense of belonging.
Why “This Is My Place” matters
Feeling safe, valued, and accepted at school, at home, and in the wider community plays a huge role in a child’s emotional well-being.
When children feel they belong, they’re more likely to talk about how they’re feeling, build healthy relationships, and cope better when things get tough.
Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 encourages everyone, parents, carers, schools, youth groups, and neighbours, to think about how we can create spaces where children feel heard and supported.
What’s happening during the week?
Throughout the week, schools and community groups are encouraged to:
- Talk openly about feelings and mental health
- Help children recognise when they or others might be struggling
- Build stronger connections in classrooms, families, and neighbourhoods
Free, downloadable resources are available for:
- School assemblies and classroom activities
- Families wanting to start conversations at home
- Community organisations supporting children and young people
There are also opportunities to take part in fundraising activities, helping to support vital mental health services for children who need them most.
Support that makes a difference
Place2Be works directly in UK schools, providing counselling, mental health support, and training using tried-and-tested, research-backed approaches.
Their message is simple but powerful: children should not have to face mental health problems alone.
Whether it’s learning more about the changing teenage brain, starting a conversation with a child, or helping create a welcoming space in your community, small actions can make a big difference.
Get involved
Children’s Mental Health Week is for everyone. You can take part by:
- Downloading free resources
- Talking with children and young people about what helps them feel they belong
- Supporting or organising local activities
- Raising awareness and funds for children’s mental health support
Together, we can help every child feel safe, supported, and able to say: “This is my place.”
