Staff from Kirklees Council recently held a fun workplace event which raised £3100 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The fundraising was in memory of promising young rugby player Ronan Costello who died following a tragic accident during a Huddersfield Giants Academy under 19’s game in June 2016.
The event was organised by the Care Navigation team, where Ronan’s Auntie Sharon works. They raised the money through a bake sale, raffle and Easter bonnet fashion show.
People from other teams across the council supported the event by donating prizes, baking cakes and cooking food, and spent money on the day buying food and raffle tickets.
Sharon Costello from the Care Navigation team said “The event was fabulous, a real team effort with lots of different people across the council coming together to help us raise such an impressive amount of money to remember my nephew Ronan who was a fantastic young man. Thanks to everyone who supported the event.”
All money raised will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance through Just Giving.
