The 2020/21 EFL fixtures will be released on Friday 21 August at 9am – It has been announced.
The last set of games for last season were played at the end of last month, as the season finished two months later than usual.
It was previously reported that League competitions throughout the EFL will kick-off on Saturday 12 September, and the regular seasons in the SkyBet Championship, League One and League Two will conclude on 8/9 May 2021.
The Coronavirus pandemic has presented a lot of issues regarding the fixture calendar and it has resulted in the start of the season being six weeks later than normal.
The SkyBet Championship will feature 13 midweek match rounds whilst League One and League Two will have 11 respectively throughout the season.
Play-Off Finals throughout the EFL will take place at Wembley Stadium over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend 29-31 May 2021.
Information regarding the Carabao Cup has also been released.
The 2020/21 competition has already seen some significant changes made, such as two legged semi-finals being replaces by a single tie and first four rounds will take place on consecutive weeks.
The draw for Round One will occur on Sky Sports News on Tuesday 18 August 2020.
It is scheduled to kick off in early September with Round One fixtures are currently scheduled to take place on Saturday 5 September.
Rounds Two, Three and Four will be played on consecutive midweeks starting 15/16 September.
Premier League sides will join the action in Round Two or Three depending if they have European competition obligations.
The draw for Round One will be divided into northern and southern section but will remain unseeded. This is the same as the previous two seasons.
The dates for the 2020/21 Carabao Cup are as follows:
- Round One – 5 September 2020 (alternate dates possible)
- Round Two – 15/16 September 2020
- Round Three – 22/23 September 2020
- Round Four – 29/30 September 2020
- Round Five – 22/23 December 2020
- Semi-Finals – 5/6 January 2021 (tie to be played at the venue of Club drawn out first)
- Final – 28 February 2021
