This year is Deighton Carnival’s 18th anniversary and organisers are looking to build on last year’s record attendance.
The carnival this year will take place in and around the Deighton Centre on Saturday the 29th of June.
This year is bringing many new elements to the event including a Roots and Culture Arena featuring arts and crafts along with music from different cultures.
There will be plenty of activities for the kids as the new addition of The ‘Carnival Kidz Play Village’ includes bouncy castles, ball pits and paddling pools.
Everyone else can enjoy the large selection of street food from around the world or grab a refreshment from the pop up beer tent.
Different sports will be run for all ages to take part in such as five-a-side football, table tennis, netball basketball and rounders.
Throughout the day there will be a wide range of DJ’s providing music for the carnival parade and the music tent.
The carnival procession begins at 1 pm with the cutting of the ribbon, then making its way from the Deighton Centre and making its way around the Ashbrow Ward.
Deighton Carnival Events Co-Ordinator, Howard Belafonte said: “After the overwhelming success of the 2018 Carnival which attracted a turnout of well over 6,000 people during the day, another fun packed family day out as planned and promised.”
