Huddersfield-born ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Dear England’ Star appointed ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice
Jodie Whittaker, best known for her roles in Doctor Who, Broadchurch and the new BBC production Dear England, has been named a charity ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in West Yorkshire.
Born in Skelmanthorpe and raised in Huddersfield, Whittaker has maintained strong ties to the region and has long spoken about the importance of community, compassion and supporting others.
Her new role reflects both those local connections and her commitment to using her public platform to make a positive difference.
Whittaker, who made history as the first female Doctor in Doctor Who, will help raise awareness of the hospice’s work supporting children, young people and families during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
“I’m so proud”
Jodie said: “I’m so proud to have become a charity ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
“They do incredible work supporting children and families in the area.
“As someone who was brought up in Huddersfield, where the hospice is based, I couldn’t be more honoured to join the team and support such a special and invaluable place!”

A strong line-up of supporters
Whittaker joins a group of prominent ambassadors, including Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockroft, Rhys Connah of Happy Valley, rugby league figures Eorl Crabtree and Michael Lawrence, as well as BTCC driver Dan Lloyd.
Charity welcomes “incredibly honoured” appointment
Forget Me Not CEO Gareth Pierce said: “We’re incredibly honoured to welcome Jodie on board as a charity ambassador.
“Jodie joins Forget Me Not at a time when demand for children’s hospice care continues to grow, and her involvement will play an important role in raising awareness and support for our work.
“All our charity ambassadors bring something extra special that adds to the magical mix that is Forget Me Not, opening doors and galvanising support.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Jodie, and we’re looking forward to working together!”
