A new networking event is set to bring businesses, charities, public sector organisations and community leaders together to explore how ethical business practices can help build a stronger local economy.
Businesses and organisations across Huddersfield are being invited to take part in a new Ethical Networking Event, taking place on Thursday 22 October 2026 at Fresh Futures, Brian Jackson House.
Organised by Chris Naylor, Managing Director of Bnode Ltd, the event has been inspired by Huddersfield’s long history of innovation, community spirit and social responsibility.
The event aims to create opportunities for meaningful conversations around ethical business, accessibility, sustainability, inclusion and responsible growth, while encouraging organisations to develop relationships that extend beyond traditional business networking.
Celebrating Huddersfield’s heritage
For generations, Huddersfield has developed a reputation for doing things differently, from its industrial heritage and manufacturing base to its education, engineering and creative industries.
The Ethical Networking Event aims to reflect this history by celebrating businesses already making a difference while encouraging others to consider the role they can play within their communities.
Whether organisations are improving accessibility, strengthening environmental sustainability, supporting employee wellbeing or working more closely with local charities, the event aims to highlight how individual actions can contribute to a stronger local economy.
The event’s message is that ethical business is not about perfection, but about making better decisions, being transparent about challenges and continually looking for ways to improve.
Putting relationships at the heart of business
Ethical business is increasingly becoming an expectation among consumers, employees and other stakeholders.
The event will therefore focus on creating opportunities for organisations to connect with others that share similar values and are committed to making a positive difference.
Attendees will be able to explore issues including accessibility, community support, sustainability, fair workplaces and inclusive services, with the emphasis on honest conversations, shared learning and practical collaboration.
Rather than focusing solely on referrals and sales opportunities, the event is designed to encourage longer-term relationships between organisations.
For many businesses, the organisers say, opportunities for growth can come from developing stronger partnerships with like-minded organisations as well as attracting new customers.
Accessibility and inclusion
Accessibility will be one of the key themes of the event, with the organisers highlighting the potential benefits of removing barriers for disabled consumers and others who have historically faced exclusion.
Research cited in the press release from the Centre for Economics and Business Research estimates that improving accessibility across UK businesses could unlock billions of pounds in additional spending from disabled consumers and their families, often referred to as the Purple Pound.
The organisers also point to potential wider benefits, including customer satisfaction, employee engagement and brand reputation.
The event will provide businesses with an opportunity to learn from others and consider practical ways of making their organisations more ethical and inclusive.
