Now that the summer holidays are over, and we approach the October half-term, there are plenty of events and activities occurring in Kirklees to keep the whole family entertained until school starts again.

Visit a Museum or Gallery:
This half-term there are plenty of events and activities happening at museums and galleries in Kirklees.
Year of Music Trail, Bagshaw Museum:
Throughout this year, Bagshaw Museum has been running the Year of Music Trail in celebration of Kirklees Year of Music 2023. Staring in April of this year, and running until the 31st December, discover and learn about all the musical objects on display from African drums to the Batley Variety Club.
Glen Williams Exhibition, Huddersfield Art Gallery:
Starting from the 20th September and lasting until the 11th November, Huddersfield Art Gallery is running and displaying an exhibition of the works of popular local artist Glen Williams, including their paintings and sculptures.
Halloween Children’s Art Workshop, Tolson Museum:
On Saturday 14th October, Tolson Museum will be hosting a Halloween Children’s Art Workshops. These are very popular and suitable for children and young people from age 4 upwards, accompanied by an adult.
There will be Halloween Lanterns making, Hanging Decorations (witches faces, pumpkins etc), Halloween Party Poppers and Spooky Masks. Prices range from £3.50 – £10.00 (payable by cash or card), and there is always a free activity. Children are also welcome to wear fancy dress too if they wish.
Mondays at the Museum, Tolson Museum:
Mondays at the Museum is an event that has been running throughout this year, and the final session is scheduled for the 23rd October.
Join in every Monday from 11 am to 3 pm for a programme of free creative, social, and wellbeing activities.
Halloween Children’s Art Workshop, Bagshaw Museum:
On Sunday 15th October, there will be another Halloween Children’s Workshop, but this one will be at Bagshaw Museum.
It will run from 12 noon to 4 pm.
Lino printed cards @ Bagshaw Museum, Bagshaw Museum:
On Saturday 4th November, have a go at creating your own lino cut patterns and use these to create printed cards.

Local Libraries:
Libraries across Kirklees are offering plenty of events and activities this October half-term that are suitable for everyone.
Craft and Games at Slaithwaite Library:
Every Saturday from 10:30 – 12:30, join in on free craft activities, board games, and jigsaws.
Craft and Games also take place at other Kirklees libraries, but make sure to check if it is the same day and time as Slaithwaite Library.
Rhymetime at Birstall Library:
Activities aimed at toddlers, this event happens every Friday from 10:30 am – 11:00 am. There are Rhytime sessions at other Kirklees Libraries as well, make sure to check the day and time at your local library.
Storytime at Huddersfield Library:
A family-friendly session that happens every Tuesday from 11:00 am – 11:30 am. The session consists of stories, rhymes and crafts. An interactive way to develop children’s language and social skills while meeting with other parents and carers. Suitable for babies and children under 5.
There are Storytime sessions at other Kirklees Libraries as well, make sure to check the day and time at your local library.
Lego Club at Honley Library:
Lego Club happens every Saturday from 10:00 – 12:00 at Honley Library, and allows children to get creative and build exciting things with Lego at this free family drop-in session. Boxes of Lego provided. Children of all ages are welcome.
There are Lego Club sessions at other Kirklees Libraries as well, make sure to check the day and time at your local library.
