From bestselling authors to poetry slams and children’s fun – there’s something for everyone as the curtain comes down on Huddersfield’s premier literature festival.
As the final weekend of HuddLitFest25 approaches, organisers are celebrating an incredible run of events and looking forward to a packed finale bursting with creativity, conversation and community spirit.
While some events – including headline appearances by Joanne Harris and Stuart Maconie – have now sold out, there are still plenty of exciting activities to enjoy.
From poetry and fiction to music, writing workshops and storytelling for children, the weekend promises something for every literary lover.
A Warm Welcome at the Festival Tipi
The Festival Tipi, located at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, will remain open daily until Sunday 18 May, offering a relaxed space for coffee, catch-ups, and live events.
It’s also the place to be for the Wrap Party on Sunday evening – complete with a raffle featuring a life-size cut-out of Leonardo DiCaprio!

An Afternoon with Rachel Joyce
Join bestselling author Rachel Joyce as she discusses her poignant new novel, The Homemade God, a moving story of family, art, and identity set against the backdrop of a lakeside house in Italy.

Finding Stories in the Park – Writing Workshop
Ignite your imagination with Juliet Thomas during this creative session in Greenhead Park.

Grandad Wheels: A Children’s Book Event
Perfect for primary-aged children, author Brian Abram (Grandad Wheels) will share his inspiring story, read aloud from his book, and guide a fun drawing activity.

Poetry Workshop: Origins
Led by poet Chérie Taylor Battiste, this powerful workshop explores heritage, identity and self-discovery, inspired by her debut poetry collection Lioness.

Poetry Slam 2025
