Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice Opens Its Doors for Autumn Open Days

Charity highlights the impact of supporting over 1,000 individuals across West Yorkshire

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is inviting the public to step inside its purpose-built Russell House in Huddersfield this October, offering a rare opportunity to see the facilities that provide vital care for children and families across the region.

The charity promises visitors will discover a place of warmth and joy, far from the assumptions many people may have of a hospice environment.

Exploring Russell House

Two open days will take place in October:

Thursday 9 October 2025 (10 am–4 pm): Businesses, schools and community groups can book guided tours by emailing fundraising@forgetmenotchild.co.uk

Saturday 11 October 2025 (10 am–2 pm): Open to the public, with no booking required.

Visitors will be able to tour facilities including a sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, cinema, soft play area, outdoor counselling room and landscaped gardens.

Staff will also be available to discuss volunteering, careers, upcoming events and how supporters can help the hospice face a financially challenging year ahead.

Forget Me Not must raise 80% of its £6.5 million annual running costs through fundraising, retail and other income streams.

A Year of Impact

The charity has just released its 2024–25 Impact Report, revealing that 1,075 individuals were supported either at Russell House or in their own homes. This includes:

369 from Kirklees
303 from Bradford
161 from Calderdale
134 from Leeds
100 from Wakefield

Among those welcoming visitors will be Stacey John, family support team leader at Forget Me Not.

Stacey said: “When people visit Russell House, they’re often surprised at what they discover. Where they might have imagined somewhere sad, gloomy or even scary, they find a joyful place that feels like a real home-from-home, a place of comfort and support.

“For our team, our open days are a great opportunity for us to meet some of our supporters and thank them for the difference they make.
