Greenhead Park is set to be transformed into a kaleidoscope of vibrant colour next month as the highly anticipated Forget Me Not Colour Run makes its triumphant return.
Organisers are calling on local residents to lace up their trainers for the family-friendly event, which takes place on Saturday, 13th June from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
One young person particularly keen to encourage the community to sign up is 22-year-old Hollie Shaw.
Hollie, who comes from Greetland in Calderdale, has been supported by the charity “since the year dot”, starting back in 2011 when its dedicated hospice, Russell House, first opened its doors.
A Lifeline for Hollie
Hollie was born with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic condition that makes the skin so fragile it can tear or blister at the slightest touch.
Despite these daily challenges, she has played a leading role in raising awareness and vital funds for the charity.
At the 2025 event, Hollie became the first Forget Me Not young person to speak directly from the main stage, before completing the fun run herself and raising an incredible £1,165.
Speaking about her deeply personal connection to the hospice, Hollie said: “I’ve been supported by Forget Me Not since the year dot and if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the team give their all to help families like mine.
“During challenging times, the hospice staff has always been there for me. They’ve helped me to manage my pain and are available for emergencies and offer much-needed respite for both me and my family.”

“Now I take every chance I get to give something back and speak on behalf of all the children and young people and families supported by Forget Me Not.
“They’ve helped me and my family massively and I want to give something back – to make a big impact for them.
“That’s why I’d love people to take part in the Colour Run this year – every penny raised will help more children and young people like me get the support they need. It’s also lots of fun and very, very colourful!”
Fun For All Abilities
The event, which is officially sponsored by the Charlesworth Family Group, is designed to be entirely inclusive.
Participants can choose between a 3km or a 5km route, and are invited to navigate the course at their own pace.
Stephanie Parker, Director of Fundraising and Engagement at Forget Me Not, expressed her excitement for the upcoming festivities: “Our Colour Run is an incredibly special event and one of our highlights of the year.
“Seeing so many families and supporters coming together alongside new people discovering the magic of the event for the first time, makes for a truly beautiful day.
“There’s a 3km route or a 5km route that you can walk, run, jog or wheel your way round. Whatever your age or fitness level, as long as you enjoy getting colourful, then the Colour Run is for you!
“We’ll also have great music, entertainment and food, so you can really make a day of it!
“As a charity, we rely on the money raised at events like the Colour Run to help us provide the vital care and support that children, young people and families like Hollie’s rely on.
“That’s why we encourage all our colour runners to raise at least £25 each. Those that do will get a fun pin badge as a reward for their efforts!”
Every single penny raised by the colour runners will go directly towards funding the critical support Forget Me Not provides to local children with life-shortening conditions, their families, and those living with the loss of a child.
