A Western-themed American diner called “Howdy” is going to be built from the derelict White Horse pub on Leeds Road, Deighton.
The original building was relaunched a few years ago after a period of closure, rebranded as a Yorkshire sports Bar, but was closed down again.
A planning application has now been submitted to Kirklees Council to transform it into a family restaurant, mainly serving Tex Mex food following is Western style branding.
The building will be designed to look structurally like a 19th-century saloon, wooden timber frame built around the brick building. The applicant has also stated that “In no way does the development overbear on any of the existing [homes]”.
The restaurant’s opening hours will be from 9 am to midnight.
Plans showing the final design and layout of establishment from Kirklees Council can be seen below and at https://www.kirklees.gov.uk/beta/planning-applications/search-for-planning-applications/filedownload.aspx?application_number=2019/91828&file_reference=753631.
