In this powerful and historic interview, 100-year-old RAF veteran Prince Albert “Jake” Jacob shares his extraordinary journey from Trinidad to Britain during the Second World War.

A proud member of the Windrush generation, Prince Albert Jacob is one of the last surviving Caribbean servicemen who volunteered to defend Britain during WWII.

In this conversation, he reflects on joining the Royal Air Force in 1943, travelling across the Atlantic under wartime threat, serving in Britain, and later helping to rebuild the country after the war.

Interviewed by veteran, author and chairman of the “Why Are West Indians in This Country?” (WAWI) project, Horace Barnes, this discussion highlights the often-overlooked contributions of Caribbean men and women to British history and the war effort.
