Be part of Kirklees’ most creative community project ahead of WOVEN 2025
WOVEN – Innovation in Textiles 2025 is on its way back to Kirklees, and you’re invited to weave your creativity into the fabric of the festival.
As excitement builds for this summer’s celebration of textiles, culture and community, a series of free Banner Making Workshops are launching to get everyone involved.
When & Where
🧵 Every Wednesday from 30th April to 28th May
🕠 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Northfield Hall, 40 Norfolk Avenue, Huddersfield HD2 1GS
These hands-on workshops are open to everyone aged 11 and up, and you don’t need any prior experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in!
What to Expect
Led by experienced workshop facilitators, each session will guide you through textile techniques as you design and create a vibrant community banner.
You’ll collaborate with others to produce a bold visual statement celebrating the heart and soul of local life in Kirklees.
Whether you’re a crafting veteran or completely new to needle and thread, the workshops are a fun and friendly space to learn, share, and connect.
Your Work on Parade
The finished banner won’t just be a work of art, it will take centre stage at key events:
-
Displayed as part of a yarn bomb installation
-
Featured on a float at this year’s Deighton Carnival
-
Showcased at other community events throughout Kirklees
It’s your chance to literally help shape the festival and make something that will be seen and celebrated across the district.
