Community urged to join celebrations as organisers face search for a new home

MakerWorld will mark the end of its packed summer programme with a vibrant day of free activities on Saturday, 30 August.

Running from 11 am to 3 pm, the finale will feature a live graffiti jam with both local and visiting artists, skateboarding sessions with Skate It Yourself, and the chance to explore skateable Drift Tricks sculptures.

Visitors will also enjoy performances by Orchestra of Objects, known for their unique mix of music and theatre, alongside artist-led workshops for all ages.

A Summer of Creativity and Community

The finale follows an impressive run of more than 63 free events hosted by MakerWorld this summer.

Activities have ranged from children’s art exhibitions and youth clubs to skate sessions and music workshops.

Director of The Children’s Art School, Chloe Williams, described the closing event as both a celebration and an opportunity for the community to come together, share ideas and shape the town’s growing creative scene.

Call for a New Venue

Despite the success of its summer programme, MakerWorld is now facing a pressing challenge: the need for a new venue to continue its creative initiatives.

Organisers say they are determined to remain part of the town’s cultural plans, especially as redevelopment under Our Cultural Heart takes shape.

The organisers are inviting families, young people and residents from across the town to join the festivities on 30 August and experience the atmosphere first-hand.
