New digital platforms aim to make it easier for cyclists across the Holme Valley to discover rides, events and club activities

Holmfirth Cycling Club has launched a new website and mobile app as it looks to make it easier for more people across the Holme Valley to get involved with the club.

The new digital platforms have been designed to improve access to information for both existing and prospective members, helping riders find group rides, join events and keep up to date with the latest club activities.

The club currently runs up to 10 rides every week, alongside an annual cycling trip abroad, multiple away days and weekends, and a programme of social events throughout the year.

Two websites and a new mobile app

The digital launch includes two new websites – one aimed at people considering joining the club and another specifically for existing members.

Holmfirth Cycling Club has also launched its own mobile app, which is available on both iOS and Android.

The club says the new platforms reflect the changing expectations of community sports organisations, with members increasingly looking for information that is clear, up to date and easily accessible from their phones.

The project was delivered free of charge to the club thanks to the support of Simon Verona, a long-standing club and committee member who owns a software company.

His involvement has enabled the club to benefit from a modern digital platform without the costs normally associated with such a project.

‘Great to use my professional experience to give something back’

Simon Verona, who led the digital project, said the new technology would make it easier for both existing members and newcomers to find out what the club has to offer.

“People expect to be able to find information quickly and easily, especially on their phone. The new website and app make it much simpler for members to see what is happening and for new riders to understand what Holmfirth Cycling Club has to offer.”

He said the project had also provided an opportunity to contribute to a club he has been part of for many years.

“As a long-standing member of the club, it has been great to use my professional experience to give something back. We are a very active club, with rides most days of the week, trips, weekends away and social events, and this helps us support our members better while encouraging more local people to get involved.”

Encouraging more people to get involved

Holmfirth Cycling Club believes the new website and app will strengthen its position as the prime cycling club in the Holme Valley.

With a programme catering for cyclists across a range of abilities and interests, the club hopes the improved digital presence will encourage more local people to discover what it has to offer.
