Arts and mental health charity recognised for excellence in volunteer recruitment, support and inclusion
Hoot Creative Arts, an arts and mental health charity supporting the wellbeing of residents across Kirklees, has been awarded the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award in recognition of its exemplary standards in volunteer management.
The accolade celebrates organisations that demonstrate best practice in recruiting, supporting and valuing volunteers, and highlights Hoot Creative Arts’ commitment to creating an inclusive and impactful volunteer programme.
Celebrating Best Practice Across Kirklees
The award is managed by Third Sector Leaders Kirklees in partnership with Kirklees Council and the TSL Kirklees Volunteer Managers Network.
It recognises organisations across the district that meet high standards in how they work with volunteers.
Valid for three years, the award provides reassurance to stakeholders and funders that an organisation follows nationally recognised standards in volunteer recruitment, training, support and recognition.
Leadership and Commitment Praised
“We are honoured and delighted to receive the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award,” said Gavin, hoot creative arts’ CEO.
“This award recognises the hard work of our Volunteer Coordinator Holly, in navigating and responding to what is a detailed process, and hoot’s commitment to building a volunteer programme that is inclusive, supportive and impactful.”

Rigorous Assessment Process
To achieve the award, organisations are assessed against eight key criteria.
These include inclusivity, fair recruitment practices, high-quality induction, effective supervision, skills development and ongoing support, robust procedures, and volunteer satisfaction.
Hoot Creative Arts demonstrated strong performance across all areas, underlining its commitment to ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, supported and empowered in their roles.
Volunteers at the Heart of Creative Sessions
Volunteer Coordinator, Holly, highlighted the vital role volunteers play within the organisation.
“We are thrilled to have achieved this award. Volunteers play a key role in supporting our creative sessions, and we are committed to maintaining these high standards to ensure that we are truly offering a great experience for volunteers from start to finish.”
