Precision engineering components specialist opens 10,000 sq ft facility in Indiana as it targets growth across North America
Huddersfield-based precision engineering component distributor Accu is expanding its international operations with the opening of its first distribution centre in the United States.
The company has established a 10,000 sq ft distribution centre in Indiana, which will serve customers across the North American market, alongside appointing its first Managing Director for Accu Inc.
Indiana chosen as strategic base
Accu selected Indiana as the location for its new facility because of its central position within the US, the availability of warehousing space and its proximity to key supply chain partners.
The state is also home to a major manufacturing sector, with industries including steel, automotive, electrical equipment and heavy machinery.
From its new Indiana base, Accu will supply customers across the North American market.
Daniel Ackroyd, Vice President of US Operations for Accu, said the changing global trading environment had accelerated the company’s plans to expand internationally.
“The changing global trade environment, has accelerated our plans to internationalise the business.
“We are excited to be opening a major distribution centre in Indiana, which will serve the North American market.
“Its strategic position as the state with the largest manufacturing sector in the US means that we are well placed to serve the wide range of industries here.
“Our Indiana distribution centre will serve primarily the home market and should lead to reduced delivery times for our US customers.
“Our plan is to grow our operations here and create a number of new jobs in the coming months.”
Experienced industry leader appointed
As part of the expansion, Giovanni (Gio) Cespedes has been appointed Managing Director of Accu Inc.
Cespedes brings more than 18 years of experience in the US industrial market to the role.
His career includes owning and operating fastening distribution company Falcon Fastenings in Charlotte, before going on to become North America Managing Director at global engineering company TR Fastenings.
He said he was attracted to Accu by its company culture and the opportunity to work directly with customers across the US.
“I’m excited to join Accu Components at such a pivotal moment as we scale our North American operations.
“Delivering high-quality products through our world-class digital platform, alongside outstanding service, is at the core of our growth, and I look forward to working closely with our team, customers, and supply partners to achieve our ambitious goals.”
Accu CEO Dan Jack welcomed Cespedes to the business, highlighting his industry experience and leadership skills.
“We are thrilled to have Gio join team Accu in this crucial senior role. Gio brings a unique blend of industry experience, team leadership, strategic thinking and personal integrity.
“He is the perfect fit for Accu and will help continue our rapid growth in the world’s largest industrial marketplace”
Strong growth reported in the UK
The US expansion comes as Accu continues to report strong financial growth from its UK operations.
The company recorded a pre-tax profit of £2.12 million for the year to November 2025, compared with £668,051 the previous year.
Revenue also increased by 24 per cent over the same period.
Accu reported a further 43 per cent year-on-year increase in gross margin, which it attributes to the introduction of new product ranges, an increase in suppliers and the expansion of its consignment stock model.
The changes have enabled the company to offer a wider range of products for same-day dispatch to customers around the world.
International growth plans
The new Indiana facility marks a significant step in Accu’s international expansion, with the company now looking to build its presence in the North American industrial market.
The business says the new distribution centre will improve delivery times for US customers while providing a base from which it can expand its operations and create new employment opportunities.
Founded in Huddersfield, Accu specialises in the distribution of precision engineering components to customers across a wide range of industries.
