Charity opens expanded lifeline for households in need across all HD postcodes

Huddersfield Community First has launched a new Food Hub Support Service, opening its doors this November to individuals and families facing hardship across the HD postcode area.

The initiative provides food bags, essential household items and energy support, with referrals now accepted directly through the charity’s website or by phone.

Referrals can be made at hdcfirst.org.uk/food-hub or by calling 01484 767666.

A Simple Process for Accessing Support

The Food Hub aims to make requesting help as straightforward as possible:

1. Browse Available Items

Visitors can view a full list of available food and essential household products by accessing the Food Hub online.

2. Select Needed Items

Households are encouraged to choose only what they will use over a seven-day period, ensuring support reaches as many people as possible.

3. Complete the Checkout

Once the basket is filled, users proceed to the checkout.

4. Provide Required Details

To process each request, personal information must be provided. Huddersfield Community First assures all details are handled securely and in line with GDPR.

5. Delivery Within 72 Hours

Volunteers prepare and deliver parcels directly to recipients’ homes within three days.

6. Follow-Up if Information Is Missing

If essential details are incomplete, a team member will make contact. Parcels cannot be dispatched without all the required information.

Referrals on Behalf of Others

Organisations or individuals referring someone in need should complete the online form as described, adding their organisation’s details—or their own—under “Referred by”.
