Accu returns to Leeds event with interactive football robots and hands-on STEM careers showcase

Huddersfield-based precision engineering company Accu is set to return to exhibit at STEMFest Yorkshire and Humber, taking place on 1–2 July 2026 at Events North in Leeds, as part of its ongoing mission to inspire the next generation of engineers.

The event brings together thousands of young people from across Yorkshire and the Humber for two days of hands-on STEM learning, interactive exhibits and real-world career inspiration.

Inspiring young people through hands-on engineering

STEMFest Yorkshire and Humber is designed for 10–13-year-olds and features more than 50 interactive exhibits showcasing careers, technologies and equipment across science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Last year’s event attracted more than 2,000 students and 200 educators over three days, with 89% of teachers reporting that it helped students better understand how STEM subjects connect to real-world careers.

This year, Accu will once again play a central role, bringing its popular robotic football game – an interactive exhibit designed to demonstrate how robotics is used in everyday applications while sparking curiosity about engineering careers.

Accu engineers Patrick Faulkner and Ellis Ware will also be present on the stand to offer advice, guidance and insights into careers in engineering.

‘A fantastic opportunity’ to showcase engineering careers

Alastair Morris, Managing Director of Accu, highlighted the importance of engaging young people early with engineering pathways.

He said: “STEMFest is a fantastic opportunity to connect young people with businesses and show them the breadth of careers available in engineering.

“We’re particularly looking forward to giving pupils the chance to experience our robotic football game, while sharing how precision engineering is helping to answer some of industry’s greatest challenges.”

Expanding access to STEM education across the region

Claire Willis, Team Leader at the STEM Hub, welcomed Accu’s continued involvement and the expansion of the event into Leeds.

She said: “After two fantastic years in Bradford, we’re excited to bring STEMFest Yorkshire and Humber to Leeds for 2026.

“This move reflects the growing scale and ambition of the event, giving us space to welcome even more schools and businesses from across the region and expand access to interactive STEM learning.

“We’re very happy that Accu has decided to join us again – together, we can inspire the region’s next generation.”

Direct engagement with future engineers

Young visitors to the Accu stand will have the opportunity to speak directly with engineers working at the company and learn more about the wide range of career opportunities within the engineering sector.

The initiative forms part of Accu’s wider commitment to nurturing engineering talent and supporting STEM education across the UK.

Long-term commitment to inspiring innovation

Accu has developed a strong reputation for supporting STEM engagement and inspiring young people through practical, hands-on experiences.

The company regularly exhibits at major events, including Makers Central, STEMFest and Get Up to Speed, and sponsors university societies such as Formula Student champions and record-breaking rocketry teams. It also works with schools through engineering challenges in partnership with Kids Invent Stuff.

In addition, Accu previously hosted FightFest – a robot combat-style competition held at Smart Manufacturing Week – designed to encourage innovation and broaden participation in engineering.
