England Women’s golfer to champion local children’s hospice as professional career takes off

Huddersfield golfing talent Lily Hirst has been announced as the newest charity ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, lending her support to the West Yorkshire charity as she continues her rise on the international golfing stage.

The 23-year-old, who has represented the England Women’s golf team since 2024, recently joined the GB and Ireland Curtis Cup Team that competed against the USA in Bel-Air, California, in June 2026.

From Huddersfield fairways to the world stage

Lily’s golfing journey began at the age of three when she accompanied her father around Outlane Golf Club, pulling plastic golf clubs along the fairways.

She later developed her game at Woodsome Hall Golf Club before continuing her progression at Huddersfield Golf Club.

Now regarded as one of the country’s brightest golfing prospects, Lily is preparing to take the next step in her career by aiming to turn professional this autumn through the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School.

Joining a prestigious group of ambassadors

As a charity ambassador, Lily joins an impressive line-up of supporters backing Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Fellow ambassadors include Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker, Emmerdale actress Amelia Flanagan, Happy Valley star Rhys Connah, Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockroft, former football goalkeeper Mark Crossley, Rugby League legend Michael Lawrence and British Touring Car Championship driver Dan Lloyd.

Speaking about her new role, Lily said: “I’m honoured to have been approached to become a charity ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

“With Huddersfield being my hometown, it’s a privilege to be connected with this amazing charity which works so hard to support local children and families.”

Supporting children and families across West Yorkshire

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice says golfers and golf clubs across West Yorkshire have long played an important role in helping to raise the funds needed to support children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Chief Executive Gareth Pierce welcomed Lily to the charity, highlighting the strong connection between the hospice and the local golfing community.

He said: “Forget Me Not has always enjoyed fantastic support from golfers and golf clubs all over West Yorkshire, hosting events and competitions that are a vital part of the income we need to continue helping children, young people and their families at some of the most challenging times in their lives.”

“So we’re thrilled to announce Lily as our latest charity ambassador and look forward to watching her career progress as she travels the world in her golfing exploits.

“Wherever she goes, we’ll send a bit of Forget Me Not magic with her and look forward to seeing her when she is back in West Yorkshire!”

As Lily prepares for the next chapter of her golfing career, her new ambassadorial role will help raise awareness of the hospice’s work, supporting local children and families while carrying the charity’s message wherever her sporting journey takes her.
