Partnership brings together NHS organisations, academics and businesses to develop new ideas, support enterprises and tackle health inequalities.
The Huddersfield Health Innovation Partnership (HIP) has been supporting businesses, healthcare professionals and researchers to develop new ideas and opportunities across West Yorkshire.
The partnership brings together the NHS, academia and industry, with the project part-funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It also contributes to the University of Huddersfield’s National Health Innovation Campus, which aims to tackle health inequalities, boost productivity and create healthier, more inclusive communities.
Through grants, mentoring, networking and events, the project has supported organisations ranging from new enterprises to established businesses looking to launch products, diversify or enter the healthcare sector.
Hundreds of organisations have taken part in events covering topics including artificial intelligence in healthcare, NHS procurement, healthcare metrology, workplace health and wellbeing, and creative health.
Participants have highlighted the value of the programme in providing expert knowledge, practical support and opportunities to build new business connections.
A new innovation space at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield has also been established, bringing clinicians, academics and industry experts together to develop innovations aimed at improving patient care and workforce development.
The partnership’s mentoring programme has matched businesses with experienced professionals, providing guidance on areas including marketing, business growth and navigating NHS procurement.
For Kirklees Local TV, the partnership has also provided a foundation for developing a digital health ecosystem designed to remove barriers to health and promote a more equitable health service.
With continued collaboration between NHS trusts, local councils, businesses and academic institutions, the partnership is looking to build on its work and support further innovation across West Yorkshire and beyond.
