Huddersfield Town has proudly announced that it has been honoured with the prestigious Family Excellence ‘Gold Award’ for the 2022/23 season, recognizing the club’s outstanding match day experience provided to families.
The award was given to only 12 clubs, further highlighting the exceptional efforts made by Huddersfield Town.
The Family Excellence scheme, implemented by the English Football League (EFL), involves two visit assessments conducted each season by a family who evaluates various aspects of their match day journey, including the website experience, ticketing process, pre and post-match communication, entertainment, and activities.
This program acknowledges continuous improvement and best practices across the league, commending clubs for their initiatives to attract and retain young supporters.
‘Many High Points’
Following the second visit to Huddersfield Town’s home ground, the John Smiths Stadium, the assessor shared their positive feedback, stating, “There were many high points for this season’s two assessments, including the warm, friendly, organized club representatives, the external stadium experience, the lovely post-match ‘thank you’ from the club, and the way the club acknowledged a young girl attending her first match.”
Not only did Huddersfield Town achieve an impressive seventh place among all EFL clubs in terms of family experience scores, but the club was also one of the select 12 to receive the coveted Gold Award.
This recognition celebrates the club’s continuous efforts to engage the next generation of Terriers.
As a testament to these endeavours, Huddersfield Town has witnessed a 12% increase in Under 11 Season Card Holders and an astounding 160% rise in match day ticket sales from the 2021/22 to the 2022/23 season.
Commitment
Robyn Kennerdale, Head of Supporter Services, expressed immense pride in the club’s accomplishment, stating, “We are immensely proud to have been recognised by the league for our commitment to attracting and engaging with junior supporters!
“Delivering an affordable and enjoyable experience is key to ensuring the next generation of Town fans come through the turnstiles and want to keep coming back.
“From the pre-match activities in our Community Hub to the opportunity for fans to meet players in the Family Area, many people behind-the-scenes come together to try and make a match day more than just the 90 minutes.”
With the accolade in hand, Huddersfield Town is eagerly looking ahead to the upcoming 2023/24 season, determined to continue improving match days for all groups of supporters.
The club remains dedicated to providing an exceptional and memorable match day experience, fostering a love for football among fans of all ages.
