A very lucky win for Huddersfield Town!
The Terriers managed to scrape a win against Preston last night by the skin of their teeth. Town didn’t have one shot on target all game but still managed to win after a Preston own goal.
After Town was through on goal, Preston defender, Van Den Berg, tried to knock the ball out of Holmes’ foot but sent the ball straight into his own net – this was an expensive mistake for Preston and this action granted the Terriers 3 points.
Huddersfield’s performance was not good enough, and this game was certainly a gift for the Terriers. I think they need to make improvements fast, as other teams are just going to get the advantage if not.
It is a big game for Huddersfield this weekend against recently relegated Sheffield United, so Huddersfield is going to need to make sure that they are on form for this one to get a result out of the game.
Sheffield has lost one and drew one and I do think that they are going to be hunting for a win at the weekend.
Post Match Thoughts
The season is still very early doors and I think that there are improvements that need to be made by Huddersfield and all teams at this moment in time.
I would like to see Huddersfield make some changes in their attack and really start to push up the field with more men. Fulham FC does this well; when they attack, they all back each other up, so when going for a goal, there are plenty of good options available.
This isn’t something that can be changed overnight but something that I took notes on when looking over the Huddersfield gameplay from the previous games.
Town can now rest, reflect and prepare for the game at the weekend!
