What a win for Huddersfield Town!
The mighty Terriers managed to defeat The Baggies with a 1-0 hard-fought victory. This was a very tough game for the Terriers, which was most definitely expected.
The game started quickly and sharply for Huddersfield Town, with a goal coming instantly in the 6th minute. After this, it was time to lockdown for Huddersfield. With a team as strong as West Brom, it was more than likely that they would try to get the game level again, so the role for Town was just to hold out.
The plan worked for the Terriers! After defending a total of 20 shots, Huddersfield managed to come away from the game with a point. West Brom held 65% possession and had a total of 500 passes compared to Huddersfield’s 250. Overall, we can see that West Brom did have the better statistics, but at the end of the day, you must put the ball in the back of the net.
This was one of the best performances from Huddersfield that we have seen all season, and it is a performance that needs to be recognized and remembered for Huddersfield. Having that capability to defend against a team as strong as West Brom for the full duration of the game was impressive.
After Match Thoughts
Overall, this was a superior performance from Huddersfield. After watching the game’s highlights, West Brom tried to break through and get that equalising goal but was blocked.
One thing I did see was the number of shots that they had compared to the shots on target. The Baggies had a total of 20 shots but only two shots on target, which must be frustrating. It is not acceptable for a team with a skill level as high as West Brom, and they really need to be hitting the target more than that.
Huddersfield Town will face QPR next for their mid-week match tomorrow night. This is going to be another very challenging game for Huddersfield and the game being away from home will make it even harder.
