The ambitious project, located within the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, is transforming a former department store into a 70,000 sq. ft. hub featuring an extensive range of activities, a six-screen premium cinema, and a vibrant dining experience.
A Unique Leisure Destination for All
The Light’s new Huddersfield venue will be one of the UK’s most comprehensive entertainment centres, offering 15 different leisure activities alongside a cinema and dining facilities.
Residents can look forward to a high-quality arcade by SEGA, state-of-the-art bowling, Skittles, and an immersive StarQuest Laser experience.
Adventure enthusiasts will be thrilled by the 26-climb Adventure Climb, the High Ropes challenge featuring 36 obstacles, and a film-themed mini golf course complete with a four-metre animatronic dinosaur.
Additional activities include interactive darts, axe throwing, electric shuffleboard, curling, batting cages, and a cutting-edge football experience.

The venue will feature a high-quality dining experience, serving freshly made pizzas, burgers, platters, and main meals. Guests can enjoy their food and drinks in the restaurant, take them to the cinema screens, or indulge while participating in activities.
Located near the M62 and just a short walk from the train station, The Light provides easy access for visitors from Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield. The site also offers validated car parking, ensuring a hassle-free visit.

A Boost for Huddersfield’s Regeneration
The Light’s arrival is a key milestone in the transformation of Huddersfield’s Kingsgate Shopping Centre, forming part of Kirklees Council’s broader regeneration initiative, the Huddersfield Blueprint.
The development is expected to create over 90 full-time and part-time jobs, boosting the local economy and enhancing the town’s appeal as a regional leisure destination.
James Morris, CEO of The Light, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “We are really proud to be part of the regeneration in Huddersfield. This site is a major milestone in our development, delivering on our ambition to bring exceptional entertainment experiences across the UK.
“This venue is really special, combining our fantastic cinema offer with a unique range of leisure activities to offer something for all ages.
“We can’t wait to welcome the local and wider communities to our venue.”
Councillor Graham Turner, Cabinet Member for Growth & Regeneration at Kirklees Council, also shared his excitement: “The addition of The Light to Huddersfield is going to make a colossal difference to the range of events and activities available for people in the town centre.
“This offering is just what the town needs right now and will give people more reasons to visit Huddersfield and explore not just this, but everything the town has to offer.”
Jonathan Hardy, Kingsgate Centre Manager, echoed these sentiments, stating: “We are delighted that The Light are opening in Kingsgate Shopping Centre. This significant development not only enhances our centre but also contributes to Huddersfield’s evolving landscape.”
