The Huddersfield Open Market was transformed into a vibrant celebration of Irish culture on Sunday, 15 March, as thousands gathered for the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The much-anticipated event brought together residents, visitors and community groups, all eager to take part in one of the town’s most colourful traditions.

Crowds lined the streets from early afternoon, many dressed in green, waving Irish flags and sporting shamrocks, as the parade made its way around the market

A Parade Full of Colour, Music and Tradition

The procession featured a lively mix, including the Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band, traditional Irish dancers from the Francis Cassidy School of Irish Dancing, and community organisations such as the Brothers Pearse Gaelic Football Association.

The sound of drums and pipes echoed through the streets, while dancers in ornate costumes performed intricate routines that delighted onlookers.

Local schools and cultural groups such as Reach Performing Arts also took part, adding a strong community feel to the event.
